Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Effective October 7, 2026
Atelier Union is a journal for wedding professionals. This policy explains what personal information we collect through atelierunion.com and our emails, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
In short: we collect your email address so we can send you the journal, and the details you give us when you write to us. We do not sell personal information. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we are
Atelier Union is operated by Tan and Glow Studios Inc., based in British Columbia, Canada. In this policy, "Atelier Union", "we" and "us" mean that business.
Our privacy officer is responsible for how we handle personal information and for this policy:
[NAME], Privacy Officer
Atelier Union
[MAILING ADDRESS]
hello@atelierunion.com
We handle personal information in line with the privacy laws that apply to us. These include British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Our emails follow Canada's anti-spam legislation.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the atelierunion.com website, the Atelier Union journal and emails, and messages you send us. It does not cover other websites we link to, which have their own policies.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need for the purposes below.
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address. Your first name and your role in the industry, if you choose to give them | When you subscribe | To send you the journal and related Atelier Union emails, to address you by name, and to understand who our readers are |
| A record of your consent: the date and time, the page you signed up on and your IP address | When you subscribe and when you confirm | To show that you asked to hear from us, which anti-spam law requires us to be able to prove |
| Email activity: whether an email was delivered, bounced, marked as spam, opened, or had a link clicked, and whether you unsubscribed | When we send you an email | To keep our list accurate, to stop sending to addresses that cannot or do not want to receive our emails, and to learn which articles are read |
| Your name, email address, business name and message | When you use a form on the site or email us | To reply to you and to consider your enquiry about training, contributing, partnership or advertising |
| Your name, role, business, location, photograph and biography | When you contribute to the journal, with your agreement | To credit you publicly on the site and in the journal |
| Technical information: IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time | When you visit the site | To run the site, keep it secure and fix problems |
| [DESCRIBE WHAT THE ANALYTICS TOOL COLLECTS, OR DELETE THIS ROW] | When you visit the site | To understand how the site is used so we can improve it |
We do not collect payment information. We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not send us any.
Your consent
We only add you to our mailing list if you ask us to. After you enter your email address, we send you an email with a link, and you are subscribed only once you click it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by writing to hello@atelierunion.com. We act on unsubscribe requests straight away, and in every case within 10 business days. If you unsubscribe, we can no longer send you the journal.
When you send us an enquiry, we use your details to deal with that enquiry. We will not add you to our mailing list unless you ask.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as a cookie that keeps forms secure. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not allow advertisers to track you on our site.
[IF AN ANALYTICS TOOL IS USED, SAY WHICH ONE, WHETHER IT SETS COOKIES AND HOW TO OPT OUT. OTHERWISE DELETE THIS PARAGRAPH.]
Our emails contain a small image and links that pass through our email provider. These tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. You can stop open tracking by turning off automatic image loading in your email app. Links you click are still recorded.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
We share it only in these situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the site and send our emails handle personal information for us. They may use it only to provide their service to us, and our contracts with them require them to protect it. They are:
- Mailgun, which delivers our emails and reports delivery, opens and clicks.
- [HOSTING PROVIDER], which hosts the site and its database.
- [ANY OTHER PROVIDER, SUCH AS FILE STORAGE, ANALYTICS OR ERROR MONITORING, AND WHAT IT DOES].
- Contributors. If you contribute to the journal, the details in your contributor profile are published.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information where the law requires or permits it, for example in response to a court order.
- A change of ownership. If Atelier Union is sold or reorganised, personal information may pass to the new operator, which must continue to honour this policy.
Information held outside Canada
Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Canada, including in [THE UNITED STATES AND ANY OTHER COUNTRY]. While information is in another country it is subject to that country's laws, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
If you have questions about how our service providers handle information outside Canada, contact our privacy officer.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, or as the law requires.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Subscriber details | For as long as you are subscribed |
| Sign-ups that are never confirmed | Deleted after [30 DAYS] |
| Your email address, your unsubscribe and the record of your consent | For [THREE YEARS] after you unsubscribe, so that we do not email you again and can show we had your consent |
| Enquiries | For [TWO YEARS] after our last contact with you |
| Technical logs | For [90 DAYS] |
| Contributor profiles | For as long as your work is published, or until you ask us to remove the profile |
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
We protect personal information with safeguards suited to how sensitive it is. The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to subscriber and enquiry information is limited to the people who need it to do their work, and is protected by individual sign-ins. We choose service providers that commit to protecting the information they handle for us.
No website or email system is completely secure. If a security incident affecting your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and will report it as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we have used and shared it;
- give you a copy of it;
- correct it if it is wrong or incomplete;
- stop using it, by withdrawing your consent;
- delete it, unless the law requires or allows us to keep it.
To make a request, write to our privacy officer at hello@atelierunion.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days and we do not charge a fee. If we cannot do what you ask, we will tell you why.
Children
Atelier Union is written for people who work in the wedding industry. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will email subscribers before it takes effect.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact our privacy officer first, using the details under Who we are. We will look into it and reply.
If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to:
- the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, at oipc.bc.ca;
